I have loved Hawaiian music since I was a little kid growing up on Oahu. When I was a kid there was really only AM radio where I lived so I ended up listening to Hawaiian music almost every day and out of all the types that I learned about my favorite was Slack key or Ki ho alu. I have been listening to this type of music for almost 40 years now and although I haven't learned to play it it has always spoken to me. One day a few years ago, I had a question about a particular music style/guitar type and I thought that I would just go straight to the source and e-mail Jeff, who had become one of my favorite artists of this type of music. I never thought that I would hear back from someone like him, someone who was obviously busy and in demand from people all the time. Surprisingly, maybe a day later I get a personal response back from Jeff himself answering my question and elaborating on other points regarding what I was interested in. I was obviously very impressed and have often thought about it when thinking about how a person, a business, or an organization can make such a difference to one person simply by being there and taking the time to follow up on people's questions, concerns, and their interest in whatever they might be providing. It takes time and a special commitment from people but it really matters. I urge you to be like Jeff and reach out to those who reach out to you. It will make a difference. Not just in your business but more importantly, in life.

I'm not so sure I am that good at the tangled Christmas tree lights. I obviously have some work to do. But so do most of us.
Wow. Creating this website and business has been really fun and rewarding for me. It has been a long time since I felt so energized about a project. Maybe because this is what I should have been doing all along. I, like you, have tried the traditional career route and while I won't say it was terrible I have realized a few things. Things I would like to share and discuss here with you. I absolutely feel that we have to take control over our own work lives as only we can follow our unique paths. When I first started this I did it without thinking where it would lead but I am slowly seeing that it's possible that it will lead me where ever I want to take it. Up to now I have posted mostly inspirational type pictures and short videos from people that I admire and wanted to share with you. I hope that you have enjoyed them and have had a chance to watch or browse through my previous posts. Going forward I will try and develop a bit more of my own voice as well. I will keep doing the inspirational and thought provoking stuff but will try and break it up a little with some of my own thoughts and experiences and hopefully hear back from you as well. I welcome your feedback and hope to hear from you soon. Jason Clarke from Minds at Work talks about how we can use our desire for change to Imagine/Develop/Evaluate/Act. He helps explain all the ways we can be unable to change even when we know we must and urges us to overcome those obstructions. http://www.marcandangel.com/ This is a great website for everyone to subscribe to. I have been reading it for a few years and continually find myself going back and re-reading articles and digging through the archives. Please give it a look. I'm sure you will find many things that speak to you and help you understand how important you are to your own happiness. Enjoy. |
